EmpowerU presents T.E.A.M
Teach - Empower - Affirm - Mentor

According to the U.S. Department of Education, almost all 50 states reported teacher shortages in the 2020–21 school year. What’s a powerful difference-maker in supporting and retaining teachers? Effective mentoring programs. Mentoring is an evidence-based approach to impact the youth's graduation and college enrollment rates positively.

In response to the Covid-19 Pandemic and the increased needs of Public Schools, EmpowerU Community Services offers targeted mentoring programming for identified youth. T.E.A.M is a school-based program that builds mentoring relationships to empower students to graduate from high school and college by pairing youth with mentors. T.E.A.M. uses both in-person and online communication tools to develop and maintain mentor-mentee relationships. Mentors help mentees develop college plans, set goals to achieve them and implement a positive example in their community through leadership and service projects.

T.E.A.M uses the Healing-Centered Mentoring™ (HCM) framework to increase the number of youth receiving evidence-based mental health services through mentoring, simultaneously reducing the burden on existing care systems and the barriers to mental health services, particularly for BIPOC youth.
